Purpose and Custody Layers
The project connects readers with the government source that maintains each kind of custody event. A New Jersey county custodian records a local jail release. The New Jersey Department of Corrections maintains state-prison histories, including its Date Out-of-Custody field. The State Parole Board handles parole records, while the Judiciary manages probation and court dispositions. Federal Bureau of Prisons and ICE sources answer different federal questions.
A person can stop appearing in one system without being free of all custody. County transfer to NJDOC ends the county episode and starts a state episode. Movement to a Residential Community Reintegration Program remains a correctional placement. Physical departure from prison can be followed by parole or mandatory supervision. The 21 county sites route local episodes to the office that held the person, while statewide pages cover NJDOC, parole, VINE, courts, BOP, and ICE.
Fair Release Planning
New Jersey's Fair Release and Reentry Act framework addresses planning before departure, including help with identification, benefits, and transition documents. NJDOC describes these as official program and navigation steps. They do not promise that a particular person will receive every item or service. The release record and final paperwork still control the event, while the relevant agency confirms what was issued in an individual case.
The material is designed for personal release verification, official record requests, custody notifications, and court or legal processes. It does not host a live jail roster, booking photographs, court files, parole decisions, or government records.

No agency reviews or endorses its content. Only the originating office can certify a record or confirm a current custody, release, transfer, parole, probation, or discharge status.

Some search tools are supplied by outside partners. A referral may produce a fee for the operator if a visitor chooses a partner service. That relationship does not change which official agency owns a release record, and it does not make a partner result an official or certified government record. Government links and partner tools have their own terms, privacy practices, data limits, and possible charges.
