Choose the Record Holder

New Jersey release questions must go to the agency that maintained the custody or supervision episode. A county custodian handles a county jail release. NJDOC handles state-prison movement and discharge records. The State Parole Board handles parole matters, and the Judiciary handles probation and court records. Federal and immigration records use separate federal routes.

State Corrections Records

The New Jersey Department of Corrections provides a statewide offender search and a dedicated OPRA page. A focused request should identify the person, SBI number when known, approximate custody period, and the existing movement, release, transfer, or final discharge record sought. NJDOC's central web routes are more reliable for a statewide request than publishing a single facility contact that may change.

Parole and Probation Offices

The New Jersey State Parole Board's contact directory routes central and district-office questions. There is no verified open statewide person-name parole decision or probation status search. Ask the Board for an individual parole decision, supervision verification, or discharge certificate to the extent public. For probation, use the latest court docket and the Judiciary office for the sentencing county.

Site Editorial Messages

Messages about a broken link, a page correction, or this private project's policies may be sent through the site's ordinary editorial contact channel when available. Do not send dates of birth, SBI numbers, A-numbers, victim details, medical information, or other sensitive identifiers. Editorial staff cannot access agency systems or answer a live custody question.
